Marseilles (Provence), France
What started off as a gloomy day, turned into beautiful weather. Marseilles is the second oldest city in France. During our brief visit we were able to see several of the most historical monuments. The first, The Palais de Longchomps (The Palace of Long Field) is not really a palace, but a monument to water. It’s breathtaking, both looking t the actual Palais, but also going to the top and overlooking Marseilles. Next we went to the Basilique Notre Dame De la Garde (Basilica Lady of the Guard). It is way up on a very tall hill and getting there in a bus was quite “fun”. The view from the top is awe inspiring. We went inside and lit candles and said a prayer. We went to both the old harbor and the new harbor as well as a shopping mall. The mall here looked very similar to any mall I’d ever been to, except I couldn’t read anything. We very much enjoyed our time in Marseilles.
