Sigh

We’ve been having lots of trouble getting Colin to stay in bed. One solution is a toddler door lock. However, he was able to get it off the door knob. We found him asleep like this, with the lights blaring, the door knob in his hand and a car in bed. John says he’s turning into an evil genius!

Love, The Binkie Fairy

Colin says…

Colin just “called” the Binkie Fairy from his “hand” phone and said, “Hi. I have an appointment because my binkie is broken.” Then he was silent for a minute and says, “Customer service.”

Rock Star Baby!

He was actually babbling into the microphone, not just eating it.

Learning to Read: A, B, C & D

In an effort to remain sane and put Colin’s busy, BUSY brain to work, I’ve decided to teach Colin to read. I did some online research and found a great website. However, as the Carpenters sang, we’ve only just begun.

After doing some reading of my own, I’ve decided to start really, slowly, with 1 – 2 sessions of about 15 minutes each, per day. That’s about all the attention span he has for sitting. We started today by singing the Alphabet Song and then pointing out each letter on the Alphabet poster in the playroom. He knows his letters by sight very well, and has for a while.

Next, I’ve started teaching him the sounds the letters make. Once he can say all the letters’ sounds, then we can start putting letters together and sounding out words. We did A, B, C, and D today. Periodically I’ve taken him back to the poster and quizzed him. It seems that he really has the sounds associated with these letters down pat.

Can’t wait until tomorrow!
